ISTVÁN LÁBADY & FRUZSI LÁBADY
A longstanding collaborator, ISTVÁN LÁBADY has been capturing the AERON mood in our lookbooks and campaigns since 2012. The well-established Hungarian photographer and his photo editor wife FRUZSI LÁBADY let us inside their 23 years of marriage and laidback lifestyle – with a playful twist of 5 kids, and answered our questions about the shifting social landscape we all live in from their home.
AERON: What kind of new opportunities do you see in the current situation reshaping your profession?
ISTVAN: In the middle of March everything stopped. For about a month, things were very quiet, then slowly smaller projects started rolling in. The most interesting one is this, which we made for you. I don't know what the future holds, but it seems things are starting to pick up slowly. I think projects will be generally smaller and I'll be working with a smaller crew. I’d be excited to work more independently with a stronger artistic focus on projects still adaptable for commercial use.
How do you adopt a more sustainable lifestyle and environmental focus to your everyday life?
We have been trying to live more sustainably for years now. We eat less meat, very little beef, we bake our own bread, we grow vegetables and make home-made jam. Also, we try to use our car on fewer occasions, ride bikes more, and buy less in general. Although sometimes it feels like we talk about these things rather than actually doing them.
In recent times, what have you been grateful for?
Sometimes in our daily routine we forget, what we have, our life is not the mere result of our determined work. This period is useful to take a pause and realize we should be thankful for everything. Especially for each other, our kids, parents, siblings, friends, and our work.
What questions do you find yourself asking again and again?
I often think about what life will be like after the pandemic. What will it be like for our kids? How their hopes and dreams will be realized? What will happen to those who are only familiar with comfort and security, as a natural state of things?
